Rules of Participation

1. Entry Requirements:
– Each team must consist of 2-4 members.
– Entry Fee: $250 per Team
– A total of 10 teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

 2. Provided Ingredients:
– Kings Farms will supply the following meats for smoking:
 – 1 Beef Brisket (approx 6KG or more)
 – 6 Pork Ribs
 – 2 Chickens
– Teams must bring their own cooking equipment, flavorings, and smoker chips.

 3. Schedule:
– Meat Pickup: Teams must arrive at 6:00 PM on Friday the 6th of June to receive their assigned meats.- Teams are required to collect their meat on Friday evening at 6 PM before the Cook-off, at which time Kings will be conducting a Food  Safety Induction for all participants.
– One of the judges will randomly select meat and place it into boxes corresponding to the number of teams participating.
– Each box will contain:
– 1 Beef Brisket (approximately 6 kg or more)
– 6 Pork Ribs
– 2 Chickens 
– Cooking Timeline:
– Teams may start cooking whenever they desire.

– Brisket must be ready by 5:00 PM on the day of the event.
 – Ribs must be ready by 5:30 PM.
 – Chicken (both Official and Wildcard) must be ready by 6:30 PM.
– Judging will commence promptly at the designated times.

 4. Judging Criteria:
– Judging will be conducted by 3 to 5 judges selected by King’s Farms from our community.
– Judges will evaluate each contestant’s meat based on:
– Appearance
– Tenderness
– Flavor
– Juiciness
– Each category will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst, 10 being the best).
– All scores will be totaled by meat category, and the team with the highest score in each category will be declared the winner of that category.

-King’s Farms will also supply additional products during the event, allowing teams 2 hours to produce a taste sample. These products may include fish, chicken wings, sausages, cheese, and pork. “Official taste testers” will be selected from the attendees to judge these samples, increasing participation for everyone at the event.

 5. Overall Winner:
– After each meat category has been judged, The total scores of all categories will be added up and the team with the highest total score across all categories will be recognised as the overall winner.

 6. Wildcard Entry:
– Each team may submit one wildcard chicken entry, which can be cooked in any style they choose.
– Teams are responsible for supplying their own ingredients for the wildcard entry.

 7. Team Conduct:
– All participants are reminded that this is a day of fun and competition.
– Respect for fellow competitors is expected at all times.
– Team spirit and sportsmanship will be encouraged throughout the event.

 8. Alcohol Policy:
– Alcohol is permitted at the event and may be consumed on a BYO (Bring Your Own) basis.
– Participants are encouraged to enjoy alcohol responsibly and in moderation.
– Any team members found to be  intoxicated or creating disturbances will be disqualified and asked to leave the premises.

 9. Prizes:
– The winner  of each meat category will receive a refund of their entry fee as well as prizes being offered by local community sponsors. The Runner-up in each category will also receive a supplementary  prize supplied by King’s Farms or community Sponsors
– The overall winner will receive a prize of $2000 in goods and services from Katherine TyrePower. This prize cannot be redeemed for cash.

 10. Judging Process:
– Judges will be selected from the community by Kings Farms, and their decisions will be final.
– No disputes regarding scoring or judging will be entertained.

 – As this is a fun day we understand that jokes and banter between teams is likely to occur, however in the spirit of fairness Team members are not to interact with judges prior to the judging taking place, as this may sway their decisions. Teams found to be doing so may no longer be eligible for any prizes.

King’s wishes to remind participants that this is a family event and we wish all attendees to have a safe and fun time, we would prefer to have adults on the cooking teams however we do not wish to restrict teams from getting their kids involved. Teams will be responsible for the safety of children on the team. King’s will have a First Aid Officer on site from 6AM on the day of the event, Teams will be required to comply with guidance from the First Aid Officer.

By participating in the Kings Farms Annual Cookoff, all teams agree to adhere to these rules and contribute to a fun, competitive atmosphere. We look forward to a fantastic event filled with delicious food and good times!
